Enrico, that is beautiful![:P][Y] I am guessing that you added the wiring but how much of the rest of that is what you get in the kit box?
Very nice detail work.[Y]
looking good. was eye balling this kit at the LHS.
Hi,
@Stikpusher:the kit is detailed enough ,the only thing to improve is the engine.I would make an airplane that shows the engine with open cowl…so I’ve buyed a Karaya resin engine but it’s seem very hard to assemble,I’m working slowly to understand how to proceed…Next time I’ll post something…Ciao Enrico.
P.S.As you said there’s to add same cables and wires and also same small leverages forgotten by Zvezda in the left half fuselage cockpit…
il famoso kit zvezda incasinato di dettagli! bellissimo.
Following the wip [t$t]
The engine is arrived…
[:|][snWow]
Now that is one detailed engine!
Built the Gavia kit some years ago but this seems even nicer, please keep us posted.
Hi all,the engine is very detailed…but it don’t fit in the airplane…and also the kit cowling don’t fit too much…so I’ve decided to install the engine (after an hard sanding!!!) and to close the cowling…An open engine to the next more luckye (and fit!) model…So i’ve continued with a black priming, same metallic for salt tecnique, then I’ve sprayed the first color of camo:AMT-12…Tomorrow I’ll mask with patafix and go with AMT-11…Ciao Enrico
I built Zvezda’s La-5 last year and absolutely loved it. Had a lot of misgivings going in about how they engineered (over-engineered?) the kit. A lot of “this’ll never work”, except that it did! Got another in the stash, along with two FNs and that same gorgeous piece of resin. Considering the rest of the kit, I’m surprised at how lacking in detail the kit engine is…no cooling fins?
Also, before you get too far along, you might want to doublecheck references. I know the La-5 was all wood construction save a few areas (exhaust plate, guns, etc), and I know the -5FN increasingly incorporated metal alloys throughout production (including a metal main wing spar), but I was under the impression the wing skin remained wood. In which case the metallic salt chipping would be inaccurate.
Wo Nelly, you mean that beautiful engine is burried?? [:S]
@DOOGSATX:I’ve the book MBI Lavochkin La 5 in which is explaned those panels were metal.Ciao Enrico.
@REASONED:I mean that the engine now is inside the plane and when I put on the propeller and the spinner…you can’t see anything…but I 'll try to take a photo before to put on the propeller assy…Ciao Enrico.

Gotcha - good to know when I take on my own -5FNs…seems a logical place to toss in some metal, both from foot traffic and it being a pretty critical join in the aircraft.
Hi DoogsAtx , when you’ll take on yours La 5Fn check very well yours references because in the kit there are some mistakes…The tail planes are inverted (the rivets are on the bottom),the pieces in the oil cooling are inverted, the pieces in the wing forming the weel bay are inverted…same levers and trottle are forgotten from Zvezda…Check very well before apply your super glue!!!Ciao Enrico.
Hi…the work is going ahead…another step is done!!Ciao Enrico
Enrico: She’s looking good!
I’ve just finished:Amt-7 bottom,post shading grey-grey camo…Ciao Enrico
She’s beautiful Enrico! btw-when I click on your pics, I receive a virus warning. I thought you might need to know that. I don’t know what’s up with that. But, you have a very nice plane there!
Gary
Hi Tex,I have Just notified this problem to the site administrator and he said that probably is google chrome browser …I’ll try to change site…Thanks Enrico.
Enrico, you’re doing a great job on this build ,really nice paint skills. I’m looking forward to more pics!
