Hey everyone,
I’m very interested in modeling a Vietnam-era PACV (Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle) hovercraft. I’ve only found models in 1/285th & 1/87th scales. Does anyone know of larger scale (pref. 1/35th) kits or a source for plans/drawings? I’ll also be posting this question in other forums.
Thanks in advance.

Ken,
I would mind seeing a 1/35th kit of the PACV’S. I seem to remember a picture of one with Sharks Teeth across the front.
I’m pretty sure you won’t find a 1/35 or 1/32 PACV kit out there. Combat Models (now Robert’s Models or ID Models ) said they were going to do one several years ago, but I don’t think it ever happened. I scratchbuilt (working from plan views) a 1/72 scale one, and started a 1/32, but never finished it. There is (was?) a surviving one at Ft. Eustis, Virginia if you are anywhere near there. The curator was a real gentleman and able to provide some wonderful material and pictures.
Where did you find the 1/87 scale? You might try a hobbyshop that does a lot of RC and look through their RC ship mags for plans and like that. Anything I can do to help, let me know.

Joe,
Thanks for the information. Here is the link for the 1/87th PACV:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.panzerbaer.de/helper/us_pacv.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3DPACV%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8
Scroll to the bottom of the page for the model.
I’ve also found a close approximation of one on an RC hovercraft page:
http://www.hovercraftmodels.com/
It’s called the “US Army SK5 - RC Hovercraft”. Not as accurate and detailed as I’m looking for, but it’s not intended to be a detaild scale replica.
Where did you get your plans from?

I swear I have once seen a prototype model in 1/35th scale
Was at a modelling show in England. If I remeber correctly it was from a Spanish firm
i know it is way past due but there is finally a 1/35 model of this hovercraft. the company is masterpiece models. just ordered this week and i’m waiting for it. by the way i’ve been triing to scratch build this ever since i saw it in popular mechanics in '69.
I just got their ATC(H) model a couple weeks ago. It is big and nice. I plan to get started on it soon. Jack Caricco makes some really nice masters. I would love to get the PACV too. We’ll see.
I know this was posted years ago, but I’m really hoping to find help from here. Do you have the plans you used for this scratchbuild? I’m really hoping to make one in 1/72 scale myself and would like as much help as possible. I’m currently deployed overseas and alot of the websites I run into are blocked due to ridiculous reasons. If anyone else can help also, I would really appreciate it.
