Victor GB - would anyone be interested?

I want to say Contrail, but :
a- I think that’s a blast from the past
b- It might be ID-models (…) instead.
I’ll see what I can find.

Update from http://www.72scale.com/menu.htm :
Kits
Valiant B Mk 1 Historic Wings HW04-003
Valiant B Mk 2 Historic Wings HW04-004

Also, I was right. Contrail has done a Valiant in 1/72 (vacform obviously, with a white metal u/c). I came across a post from a french modeler who said that Mach2 are due to release a new kit this year. I’m sure it won’t be easy but it might be better than the old Contral kit, and not a vacform (probably short-run injection and/or resin).

Wow That would be cool
i got the Vulcan , the Victors bathing herself , and now the Valiant that would be awesome !!!
Didn’t Linburg do a valiant kit ??

the words "blue steel’ are ringing in my ears… [:)]

heh… I think a Vulcan GB will be in order after we’ve finished the Victors, don’t you? [;)] Then, by the time we’ve finished the Vulcans, there ought to be a Valiant kit out for our third GB… That sounds sensible AND fun to me…

On the subject of the Valiant - isn’t it a boring looking plane compared to the other two?

Here we go!

Now… wouldn’t THAT make an interesting subject for a GB? We could make a bulk enquiry, and see if we could get a discount? [:D]

yes there not much to turn your head when you put a Valiant next to a Vulcan, heck even the Victor falls short next to the Vulcan… but the Victor has the advantage of having had scantly dressed woman carrying blue spears adorn thier noses [:D] always a plus…

As much as Id like to build a Valiant I have to wait for an injection plastic run kit… I have a hard enough time with those to even think about tackling a vacuform.

I think that the Victor & Vulcan are probably even on “wow” factor, until you see the Vulcan in the air… That’s one hell of a sight to behold. The Valiant, as you rightly said is a bit dull to look at, but having been staring at it a bit more recently, it’s growing on me. I like the sweep of the wings, and the unobtrusive engines buried in the ing root. I could grow to like it, eventually.

If they’d progressed with the B2 variant, we could have seen them around for much longer, but the powers that be decided to scrap that, and try to use the weaker B1 variant for low level work, to which is wasn’t suited. Apparently, one had a major failure of the main spar and ended up doing an emergency landing with a droopy wing. The B1 wing just wasn’t up to the task, but the B2 with its strengthened wing would have been.

It’s all there in detail on thunder&lightnings if you fancy a read.

Sean - how’s the soaking Victor coming along?

It was a 1/96-ish Vulcan, blobby wheels, moveable control surfaces, made a pretty good glider
I built it after a Cadet visit to RAF Marham, (I might not be right, here) then a Victor K2 Sqn, Awesome … and loud!
It had the only surviving Valiant as ‘photo backdrop’ far too many years ago… Now at Duxford I believe…
As to Vulcans, one in EMids Air Museum, Baginton Airport, Coventry, & one near some car-boot place near stratford, I forget the name…
Seen on UK ebay… Welsh Models 1/144 Valiant Vacform… item 290095278630
Just seen on Sangar models website… a Trio of V bombers in 1/48 due for release this year…

enjoy…

I currently am committed to several complex model projects but do love the Victor. I would like to add a little information to the group regarding modeling the Victor. First ,there was another kit produced for the Victor in 1/72 and that was the Rareplanes vacumform. I have the kit and I can only comment from my experience with building other Rareplane kits by suggesting that this kit is probably a better representation of the aircraft then the Revell/Matchbx presentation. Secondly, Modeldecal in England produced a great set of decals representing the entire family of British aircraft, including the Victors that were used in the 1991 Iraq conflict. There are several very sexie Victor markings in the set. I have the set but I don’t know if you might be able to track down one by contacting shops or modelers in the U.K. Food for thought. No, I have no plans to sell either of these items.

Is this GB still going on? The thread is from August, 2005!
