I’m thinking of instigating a GB of the Handley Page Victor, as it’s such a WEIRD aircraft, and after wandering round underneath one a few weeks ago, I’m smitten.
There’s only one kit available, and that’s the Matchbox/Revell offering. From what I’ve seen, the fit is awful, the detail is poor, and the aftermarket parts are hard to find. Now that’s what I call a challenge!!! [:D]
Here’s a comprehensive list of all the parts that you can get for it. Not a long list, comprising of 2 items!
Flightpath update set, comprising resin replacement intakes, large PE fret of airframe, cockpit & air-brake parts.
Euro Decals Operation Granby markings. Full set of Desert Storm painted Victor K2 tankers.
Wow… Spoilt for choice, eh?
Of course, there’d be a long date on it, but as yet, I’m just gauging interest in joining.
I’m interested. Have 2 Matchbox kits that I bought a while back. Fit is not all that bad but needs rescribing. I ran a dry assembly and I believe it can be a great model. Intakes need work or replacing but beyond that I think the size and shape are excellent.
I have put together quite a bit of referance material and would be happy to share. Let me know.[2c]
That’s great… I’ve got a few possibles from the UK, but you’re the first US (I assume) modeller that’s shown an interest. If we pool our reference material, it’ll make life easier for all of us. I’ve got 50meg of webspace I’m not using at the moment - I could volunteer that for pics & such.
Yep I’m in Mike
At this present moment its soaking in Mr Muscle
plus the rest is in the freezer
now if you fancy a good colour scheme how about this one
Off to a great start! I am probably going to do some resin casts of a few upgraded assemblies. Be glad to share. I’ll start gathering my material this weekend.
By the way I am in London Ontario, Canada. Was born GB and raised in the US. Not sure what that makes me?
CAUSGB maybe?[tup]
b1bwolf - it makes you a modeller sans frontiers! [;)] And a generous guy to boot.
What bits were you planning on making?
Awood - We’ll not be starting for a least a couple of weeks while I finish my new workshop. Got the main wiring in for lights tonight. Switches tomorrow afternoon when I get back from mountain biking.
Sarge - Raid that piggy bank, my man! [;)]
Sean - that’s blinkin’ 'orrible!!! I’m doing Teasing Tina… having touched her, I feel an affinity [;)]
I would suggest now that since its “official” and we have a badge… that we restart this thread in the GB Forum? Since its your thread Mike I’ll leave that to you.
Sounds like a great idea for a GB as I have the kit ready to go. The downside is that I’m committed to GBs through till the end of spring. If you’re thinking of getting going soon, I’ll have to pass but I’ll sneak a peak when I can get away from the bench.
