Here is my latest inflight build. It was built using the Hasegawa F-18F 1/48 kit.
This is my vision of Victory 204 in action over Afghanistan. The jet is loaded out as noted in the Fightertown decal sheet for VFA-103’s First Combat Cruise. I thought the idea of the jet inflight over Afghanistan with a GBU-12 coming off the pylon would be a nice display.
I really worked to get the GBU-12 to look just right. I added the opened fins as they would be deployed after being released. While I know the ordie writing would probably not exist because of the writing ban, I added it anyway because it looks cool to me. Also, I worked hard to get the pilots to look more realistic. I used Aires buckles and straps to strap them in. While it was a pain to get them all folded and over the shoulders I think the buckles really enhance the look and came out well.
The display title “Target Shacked” comes from the term used after hitting the ground target. Here is a link to a history of the term.
