Hi there,
i’ve just bought the Verlinden Tiger I detail kit #1177, and the only instructions in the box is a little sheet that covers only some parts…does anyone can help out with better instructions…i can’t even figure out what some parts are for? That’s the worst instruction i’ve ever saw! So if someone have install this kit and know how to install and build those parts, and what they are all for, please let me know!
Welcome to the forum, jdube! I hope you enjoy your stay with us!
That is, unfortunately, one of the great drawbacks for Verlinden kits: Terrible instructions. Most of the stuff I’ve done through them required careful studying of the box art and constantly checking reference pics. The more detailed the pics of the actual subject you have, the easier it will be to interpolate the actual pieces. Keep in mind that you don’t have to use all of the pieces, and I don’t think I ever have.
1st, Welcome to the forum. I hope you find it worthwhile. There is a lot of information out here and many very good modelers to help you out.
I’m sorry you got hit by this item. The instructions (or lack there of) is one of the big reasone I opted not to buy this kit. These am manufacturers are going to have to get on the stick and start putting much better stuff out there, or the market will start going away. I felt the spiffiest piece in there was the turret box. It’s well molded and has some neat detail. I can’t remember much about the kit, other than I couldn’t figure out what a lot of the parts were either. If I remember right, there is a small cylinder. That is probably supposed to be the fire extinguisher that goes on the rear deck near the right side, large air intake screen. A Tiger reference book may help you figure out what some of it is. Osprey has one out for about 12 to 15 dollars. Verlinden has some modeling books out and one of them might help. Check squadron.com or greatmodels.com if your local hobby shops don’t have anything. (Might check the local library, too).
Sorry I couldn’t be more explicit help.
Good luck with your Tiger (check out the Tiger I Mid Pro Group Build thread at the top of the Armor topics)
