Can you take Verlinden’s WWII marines and just paint them in ETO infantry colors or are the uniforms different then that of an ETO soldier.
Uniforms should be different.

The Marine HBT Dungarees had a different type, number and placement of pockets thant the Army HBT Fatigues, which is the closest uniform.
There are a lot of very nice recent US Soldier sets out from DML which are a good value and very well sculpted: US Tank Riders, Crossing the Rhine (Remagen), 10th Mountain Division, etc…save yourself the time and trouble and look into these…
I’d also add Tamiya’s US Assault Infantry and several of the new relases from Master Box to this list.
