i finished my A7 corsair II about a month ago and i painted it with matt grey and matt white,so the paint was flat with no shine to it.
so i was wondering if varathane crystal clear diamond wood finish would work?
airbrushed would do the trick without destroying the paint or decals?
(the only reason for this question is…im lazy and for some reason i dont feel like goin to the hobby shop) im a little scared…
any helpwould be appreciated!
I’m always hesitant of using non-modelling paint’s.
I would make a test chip to see how the decals and paint react…
Just pur some paint and decals on a scrap piece of styreen, then use the finish and watch what happens.
It might work fine, it might destroy all your work (I know nothing about the finish that you describe) so don’t take any risks.
If you aren’t too lazy [:)]…Get yourself to the local supermarket and buy some “Future” floor polish (I’m pretty sure it’s available in Canada). Alot of modellers use the stuff as a clear coating and swear by it. Have a read of this for some advice on how to use it:

If you are too lazy [:(]…Test the paint you have on a scrap piece of plastic painted with the same paints you used one your model. That’ll save you frying your nice, fresh paint job on your model.
hope this helps.
ditto on the future Pingtang mentioned… it’s great stuff and wont mess up the paint underneath…
The Navy A7 would be correct with a flat grey. The white was gloss but quickly weathered to a more satin or matte finish, especially on the upper surfaces. Point is, your model is OK with a flat finish. If you really want it glossy than I agree with the other members on using Future. Future can even be sprayed over the Canopy with no fear of fogging.

Thank you to everybody else for a quick response!
