Valspar paints at Wal-Mart ???

Hello All:

Today on a whim I went into the local Wal-Mart last night. In their model section they had two items that caught my eye.Item # 1 model paint, brand name Valspar, out of Picqune Mississippi. I think it is enamel but not sure.Has any one ever used this paint. They even have a “airbrush” set up you can buy.I do not want to say it is “cheap” as in quality, but it looks basic. The Valspar line has military colors. The bottels are about 4 times the size of a standard Testors Enamels.Has anyone used these paints? How about a passdown?

Item #2 Wal-Mart has a bunch of those 1/18 scale “model” aircraft.Get this after Christmas markdown $24.95.I eyeballed the F4U-1A Corsair,VF-17 markings.I am wondering if one could enhance these kits with some sheet styrene and a better paint job.I am very tempted to buy the Corsair. It would be the “Monster” wall hanger…or ceiling hanger to be honest. The engine begs for detailing. They also had TBF Avengers,MiG-15 Bis,and two others I did not look at.The TBF is in Atlantic two tone grey and white. The MiG-15 Bis is in two different paint schemes.Overall silver with red nose,or three tone striped camo.$24.95 for a 1/18 Corsair…How can I hide that from the Mrs.?

Valspar has been around for years at your local hardware store. They were industrial, and home coatings.

Don’t know about hobby paint though. Must be something new for them.

I could be wrong on this…but isn’t ‘House of Kolor’ (the cool paint colors you see on ‘Monster Garage’,‘Pimp my Ride’ and others) a sub of Valspar?
