Vallejo Light and Dark Rubber

I’ve read all the different posts about how to paint tires and road wheels and I’ve used several different methods myself with mixed results. Has anybody tried the rather new (at least to me) Vallejo Light or Dark Rubber paints as a starting point on tires? What do you think about them? How to they compare to Floquil Weathered Black?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

I have used them and like most of their stuff it brushes very well. The color on the light rubber is very gray but seems to look ok.

FYI. Love this stuff! The colors are just what I was looking for, it brushes great leaving no brush strokes, and it air brushes great. One word of caution, and I would have known this had I done a more thorough search of the forums; don’t thin Vallejo paints with alcohol! It turns into a big glop! All the forums say thin Vallejo paint with water but I found out that Windex works just fine also.

I’ve found they thin best with either Future or Testors acrylic thinner. If you’re airbrushing them, the Future provides a tough, smooth coat. Very nice!
