Can I use Vallejo Flow Improver with other acrylics. Or is there some better product to use? Does it have to be manufactured specific? Been using mostly Testors MM acrylics.
Really can’t say how diffrent company’s products interact,that sounds like it might work,but you need to experiment
Ya if you have it try it in a test shoot.
I use my own thinner blend in MM Acryl, it has some Liquitex retarder in it to fix tip dry and a trace amount of Dawn dish washing liquid for flow aid. I use the same stuff in several acrylics. You only need enough flow aid to break surface tension.

Thanks, will experiment. Sorry to see the demise of MM acrylics. Will have to look into different brands of paint. I build mostly cars and planes. I’m going to try armour next.
Yes, I use Vallejo Airbrush Flow Improver with great results with Hataka Red Line acrylic paints. For our dry desert conditions, I use 3 drops Vallejo Airbrush Thinner, 5 drops Flow Improver and 10 drops paint. On base coats, I reduce the Improver down to 3 drops. Airbrush is an Iwata .3mm HP-C, pressure 10-15 psi
I now use only Vallejo Flow Improver to thin water based acrylics…I use Vallejo Flow Improver with Hataka Red Line and AK 3rd Gen water base acrylics. Hataka, 2:1 Flow Improver to paint. I thin AK 3rd Gen more since the paint is thicker…3:1 Flow Improver to paint. Let dry 24 hrs. Still dries as fast or faster than enamels and sprays as well with no tip dry.
Don’t be afraid to use more Flow Improver than recommended. I also seal and protect the paint with an acrylic gloss coat; apply decals, seal with gloss; let dry and lay down a Vallejo Satin coat before weathering.
