It’s another disappointment regarding the promised new release of Vallejo’s Ral 7028…their newest labeling in 18ml bottle is again the bright and shorted lived Dunkelgelb (Feb 43 - Apr 43). Guess Vallejo doesn’t want to admit that it’s Ral 7028 is all wrong by adopting authentic colors. I’ve been relying on MMP Ral 7028 (-011) tweaked a bit…by the way, MMP has improved its thinner providing minimal to no tip dry…great company, great water base paints
Yes, Vallejo has been a big disappointment to me too. Except for their thinners, their acrylic paints are by far too cumbersome to work with, especially considering what both AK Interactive and AMMO MiG do offer, as well as SCALE75 dedicated Military Paints. I also occasionally work with LifeColor paints and Tamiya, but both require their own specific thinners and are a little bit fiddly to work with.
Believe it or not, I do still work with some older Model Master enamel paints by the defunct Testors brand which, if stored in their original glass bottles upside down or on their head can last forever and only need to then be thoroughly stirred and shaken to return to their natural consistency. Some of them are really unique and spray well with an airbrush when duly thinned, especially when painting modern fighters or vehicles and their metalizers can stand at par with more modern ones.
