Vacuform Canopies

I’m about to try a vacuform canopy for the first time. Should I give it a coat ot Future/Johnson’s Kleer as on an injection plastic one?

yes

only if you like; i’ve done with and w/o. deciding factor is how clear it is in the first place and what i’ll use to mask it; masking fluid reacts with the stuff and makes a mess.

Okay, thanks everyone. Future/Johnson’s Kleer it is…

The one time I coated a canopy with Future before painting it looked really great. Until I removed the masking to find it has destroyed the layer of future underneath. Yes, I allowed it to dry sufficently; 48 hours.

Liquid mask doesn’t like Future so I would suggest masking first then paint afterwards Interior color then exterior color remove mask after paint has cured then dip in future.

Good idea…but what if you don’t want your canopy frame glossy while the rest of the aircraft is flat?

well you could always spray clear flat over the canopy then remove the mask and paint the glass part with future.
