USS Okinawa?

Hello, guys first time posting in ships as they are not my regular gig,but I wanted to know if any companys made a kit of this ship. My future step father served on her.I want to make it a suprise so I cant ask him too much. I dont even know what class ship she is/was or if any other kits could be converted to her. Thanks for any help

iron ships wrights makes the uss guam LPH-9… I was on the USS IWO Jima LPH-2 they are always out of stock but you may get lucky… Their are several promodel sites that sell IWO JIMA class ships they start at 1800.00 and take 6 mo to get but they offer three payments. I hope this helps. He is a lucky man.

USS Okinawa (LPH–3) was the second Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship

…would be Aurora’s old 1/600th USS Guadalcanal.

It is not a bad kit and can be had somewhere (EBay, Kit Collector’s sites) for a not totally outrageous sum. It is capable of being dollied up nicely and would make a good project.

Thanks for the info guys like I said I normaly don’t build ships. I found Squadron sells the USS Boxer LPH-4 could this ship be converted to the Okinawa? I dont want to spend to much money given my Mothers track record with marriage (this makes 7 lol),but he seems like a cool guy, near as I could figure without asking to many questions he served on her around the late 70’s early to mid 80’s as he is only like 10-12 years older than me so I figured what year around h would be 18-19 and came up with those dates, thanks again.

The USS Boxer (LPH-4) is an Essex class CV converted to an LPH, an entirely different animal.
