I want to build the battleship USS COLORADO BB-45. I know thatthe USS MARYLAND was a sister ship and I thought I saw a plastic model of the Maryland somewhere. Could anyone help me on this. Either that or suggest another cagemast battleship model. I normally am an armor builder but I do build ships also.
PD,
Iron shipwright makes a resign model of the Maryland as she apeared on Dec 7, 1941. I have not seen a plastic model for her as of yet.

Yeah, I also have seen quite a few cage mast battleships but most a in resin. Which is must more costly than plastic. check Modelwarships.com for info on where to get the ships. good luck.
At this point in time, there are no cage mast US battleships in plastic. Resin will be your only avenue, and they will be pricey.
There is an option you can exercise, but it will require some scratchbuilding and kitbashing. Get a Banner/Trumpeter Arizona from any hobby shop, and then buy two sets of Tom’s Modelworks US Early Battleship Set # 3502
From there, with some decent reference materials, namely Paul Stilwell’s Battleship Arizona book, you can create a 1921 Arizona, or an early USS Pennsylvania. She’ll look like this:
Although this is the 1921 Tom’s Modelworks kit, I’ve done this conversion for a client and it’s not that hard if you have basic scratchbuilding skills.
