Does anybody know if I could use the M2 Interior with the M2A2 kit ? Both in terms of fit and being correct ?
Thanks,
Adam.

Dude I have been wondering the same thing. I have built the Tamiya M2A2 and the cheap Hobby Craft/C.C. Lee copy. Though I have not built the old M2 the M2A2 appears to be an M2 kit with new exterior armour plates substituted for the interior sprues for the M2. If you have built the M2A2 I’m sure you noticed the regular M2 armor panels and bits that are left over. Common practice now is just to add or subtract a sprue in uprated or alternate versions of the same vehicle. There is a Tamiya M2 w/t interior that I was debating getting just for this purpose.
I did some years back on the older M2A2, using the M2 interior. It fits okay, considering same hull, but I dunno how accurate this was. Anyway, you won’t be having any trouble using it stock; there are a lot of webpages with M2A2 interiors available, so scratching will be kept to a minimum. at least you’ll have the basic stuff available already. The M2 can still be built up with all hatches closed – which is what I did with mine.
Have fun!
My first M2A2 [the Tamiya], I built with only the rear hatch open and the interior painted flat black with a couple guys coming out the rear. that worked out ok because the hull was in dark green. My second one is in U.N. white so now I’m not so sure if I’ll go the same with it. There is an old M2 w/t interior on evil-bay I’m debating on. I may just wait on Hobby Lobby’s next sale or mark down and pick one of the old M2 they still have on the shelves.
As stated, the M2 interior will plop right into the M2A2 kit since they use the same hull, of course, there’s been a lot of changes to the Bradley interior since the M2 A-nothing was in use. Side firing points were deleted, stowage was rearranged and the seating was rearranged (several times). Not to mention the fact that the interior of the A2 has the anti-spall lining inside the hull surfaces.
I have detail photos of the interior of the M2A2 (non-ODS) and an older M3 and M3A1 in my motor pool gallery (see link below).
Cool Rob, thanks for the link! I noticed before when you had me look at these picks that this m2a2 doesn’t have the large side panel plates which cover the passenger firing port area. I always thought the “A2” designation was because of that alteration. So what is it that determines the diff between the regular M2 and the M2A2. Electronics package?
I Just recently did that…It fit perfectly into the ODS version. Because of the Seating area being old, I had to add some bench seats that I took from one of my old m113’s-Still trying to find a way to put a slight padding look to the benches…I am also reconfiguring the old M2 Load plan with the present load plans with bench seats, and presently trying to detail the ODS with the new Eduard Photo Etch Detailing both inside and out. I already reconfigured/converted the turret assembly. I cut out the door area of the outer turret wall, and added the turret assembly and details that Eduard has to offer as well…It will look sweet when finished. I can see it already. I will post pics when finished with it.
WELCOME APACHE402! Yes we’d love to see the pics, infact “in progress” pics would be great too. I don’t know the diff between the two interiors and I like to the changes that would have to be made. We had been discussing this subject for a while. There are a couple Bradleys w/t interior I’m debating bidding on…
If not one of those I’ll pick one up at Hobby Lobby’s next sale!
Ok…I will get the in-progress pics done and up soon!
