I hear that resin cockpits are a major pain, even when used in a kit they were designed for. I’ve done major research on the subject and this seems to be the case. My question is, if this is generally true, could I use a cockpit designed for a Trumpeter F 14A on a Hasegawa F-14A? I am assuming if I have to sand the heck out of it anyway, does anything majorly disastrous jump out at anyone?
There should be no reason why you can’t, i know one member used a resin pit designed for an Academy kit on a Fujimi one. Just make sure you check everything. Not every kit of the same subject in the same scale are the same size. You may need to remove more than expected or plug some gaps.
You might wnat to post this in the aircraft section, you might get a better response.
I just used a resin pit made for the Hasegawa F-4E on an old Italeri (original Esci mold) and it fit after some trimming and sanding. I haven’t seen a ‘drop in’ resin part yet. Most require some type of fitting.
Welcome aboard and you will get more hits in the aircraft section as Bish suggested.
