Used floor shine (Quick Shine) and Tamiya flat base

Airbrushed the final “dull” coat with floor shine/Tamiya flat base mixed 10 to 3.

Very happy with the result and no smell.

Subject is 1/48 Tamiya PZ IIIL built from the box.

4/4/25 - edit - clarified the subject with apologies!

That "Dull Coat"looks great on that Panzer. Now that I can’t buy my Testors Dull Cote anymore I’m going to give this a try. Thanks Mark!

Been meaning to try this combo out, thanks for the ratio. That pziii looks great.

Wow, that is FLAT FLAT. Thanks for sharing your mix ratio.

Thanks all.

I mix what I plan to use in a small bottle and paint onto a test piece then adjust as necessary.

I have in fact “frosted” a F4U (looked fresh from the freezer :joy::joy::joy:) which is why I test the mix. I do not thin the Floor Shine.

I like that I can dial up flat, matte or any thing in between.

Did you use a specific product called “Floor Shine”, or Pledge Future you had in reserve, or the recommended “Quick Shine” now that Pledge Future is no longer available? Or perhaps none of the above and something else altogether?

Thanks and cheers,
Mark

My apologies.

I did use Quick Shine.

Thanks. Your model looks great and thanks for the tip!

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks for that clarification as I was going to ask. I have been using Rejuvenate Floor Finish instead of Future and although it works OK it doesn’t have the same level of gloss so I was hoping for another alternative.

Some guys on you tube have been using “LA’s Totally Awesome” floor wax from the Dollar General Store as a clear coat. I wonder if your formula would work with that.

@MR_TOM_SCHRY, I’ve been gone so maybe I missed something, but why can’t you get Dull Cote anymore? I swear I just ordered a bottle from Scalehobbyist.

BTW guys, I’m in the Raleigh, NC area and if anyone needs a wee bottle of PFG, let me know. I still have 25 of 27 fl.oz. left in my jug, I can’t see myself EVER finishing it.

I still can. I don’t want to use lacquer based paints any more.
