Has anyone seen a 1/48 scale model of a MA-1A…?
Need an air start unit for T-38…UPT bases did not use -60s way back when…
TIA

I couldn’t find that one, but there is an MD-3, would that be any use.
MD-3 was a 115VAC Electric only Cart.
MA-1A was a Palouste (High Pressure Air) starter cart…
On the -38A, we used on board battery for start, “Huffer Cart” to spin er up.
Need the air unit…
Good thought though.

(How do I remember this stuff, and can not remember what I had for breakfast?)
EDIT: My bad…Oops…, Thinking back, MD-3 was 115VAC - and - 28 VDC
I was AGE in the 80’s and as I recall the Ma-1A had been out of service for quite awhile. T-38’s were still in limited service and we kept 4 -60’s around for them and F4’s and F-111’s. As they were the only planes left that required bleed air starters. My memory may be failing, but I don’t remember any other bleed air carts.
I’m reaching back in my memory, But when I was in pilot training in 1984 we used the -60 at willie. At out stations we could run across a MA-1.
It should not be hard to scratch build one. I would think the wheels would be the hardest to find.
After that its basically a box.
Scratch building may be the only answer…
Flight line from Webb AFB '75 didn’t have “new” AGE (-60s), since it was closed in '77.
You guys at Willie & Enid by the Sea…got all that good stuff.
FWIW, You know you are getting old…
When (at least) two of your PCS bases have been closed.[:(]
I don’t see an MA-1 on this page, but, I thought it might be of interest anyway.
There are not a lot of places to get Yellow Gear out there.

edit, it is always nice to remember to right click and paste http://www.aim72.co.uk/page71.html
Yup, Willie and Zwiebrucken AB are closed. But Dover is still there!
I’m 1 for 3.
I guess I’m old.
Also, FWIW, I don’t remember the -1A’s being yellow like in the photo. I thought they were
dark olive drab like the other ground equipment. But that could be time and my bad memory.
Trying to figure out how to load photos from imgur to here…
I’ll be back…
Webb AFB 1975, With Yellow MA-1As…Best Photo I could find of the -38 Flight line
Has anyone thought of Shapeways? A 3d printer should be able to make one.
