Hey Stik, thanx cool info for my trumpy Thud

Just to make sure, it is light grey and not white for the bottom??
Theuns
Correct. FS# 36622 (aka Camouflage Gray) is a very light gray, almost, off white in color.
It is a very light gray and appears to be white in photos.
Thanks, Stik. Picked up the greens and tan today. Couldn’t find the gray. Guess I’ll have to order it from somewhere. Thanks again.
I’ve botched a F-100C recently. I found that painting diagram above and colored it in with Photoshop:
Its not the exact colors but it’s a good guide.
Thanks for the replies and info!
Thoroughly research, study, Google 'F-100 images to see exactly how the aft section is painted & note the weathering due to the heat on the titanium skin of the aft section. Even though the metal is titanium, avoid using titanium paint.
The various color photos show many variations.Good luck!!!

The paint burned off because of the high temperature of the engine. Jets are a lot hotter than turbo-fans.
Many photos show the bottom as ‘almost’ white; you can probably mix a ratio of 95% white to 5% light grey. Having worked on the real jet the suggested ratio should work . Don’t forget to dirty up the bottom where the aft section starts w/ oil streaks.

Thanks John. Good tips. My uncle worked on these at Phu Cat, V-Nam, which is the person I am going to attempt this model for. He has said as long as I can recall he would like a replica of “Triple Nickel”.
His planes tail number was 555. Thanks again.
The late Dave Menard was a collector to triple digit aircraft and the Hun. I expect that he would have loved to meet your uncle.

Hey SeaSick, thats one great looking Hun. She’ll look great with decals. I’m building their C now for the Vietnam GB and have had a heck of a time researching C model 100s. Most pics and info is for the Ds and Fs. Also been fighting with an Aires cockpit, nuff said bout that!
