Okay, I’ve started on the 106. Will try and post pics as I can (no digital camera here).
Would a P-82 Twin Mustang be too old to qualify for this build?
I have one I have been wanting to build for a long time, and thought this would be my chance to do something with it.
If not, thats cool, as I do have others I can pick from, that I know will fit into the year guidelines.
Just let me know, then I can tell you my second pick.
Thanks,
Leon
It served in the Korean War as I remember. I’d vote YES, but my [2c] don’t count as I am not the GB leader…
It would make a great build, you don’t see many built. Much like the actual aircraft, a short history in a few numbers. Great aircraft, but came at the same time that the jet age began to take over.
Twin Mustangs got some of the first kills in the Korean War, so they are well within the time period. Would love to see one in the build!
Hey, that’s really cool of ya, man!
I just hope the kit is worth the effort…ModelCraft[tdn][banghead]
I’ll give it my best shot, though! Wish me luck!

I have started my entry for this GB, by spreading out the parts, matching them to the instructions and developing a plan of attack for the building.

So Texgal45 what part of North Texas are you from. I was born in Dallas.
I have done the same as Texgal 45. I have started a game plan on how I will attack this large bird.
I’ve also started my F-106, starting work on the ejection seat and cockpit tub during the Super Bowl. Some night this week I will finish the seat and the side panels in the cockpit. At that point I’ll decide the game plan from there…I haven’t made my plan of attack yet because I was eager to start and knew that any plan of attack was going to start with the office.
Henrietta, about 25 miles east of Wichita Falls. I went to school at TWU in Denton and that’s where I met Hubby when he was stationed at Sheppard AFB.

I checked out my F-89D over the weekend and had forgotten that it is about halfway finished (like a billion other projects in my den… [sigh]), is it still ok that I use it for this build or should I pick an unbuilt kit?
Finally got started on the BONE - all I’ve done is the front pit so far, but progressing well on the rear one. I’ve added some PE detail, but most of it is straight out of the box:
It’s a bit LARGE in 1/48th - I have no clue where i’m going to keep it when its finished…

Let’s bring your half-finished F-89 aboard. The more models the merrier. Maybe you can build another kit sometime during the build period. I’m hoping to do that, I have decals for an F-15A and a Vietnam F-4, both in 1/72, and I hope to include them in this build.
That is a fantastic office, Pruz. Great work!
Cool, thanks! Hmmm… now that you mention it, I also have a half finished F-84E [swg]
My dio will be representing a scene that I saw on a picture: the “aftermath” of a successful rescue in 2003 of a downed A-10 pilot over Baghdad. It shows a Pavehawk in the background and two PJs accompanying the rescued pilot.
Here’s the status I promised:
The bulkheads
The modified central ammo can
Modified flare dispender (in progress)
FRIES bar (in progress)
Modified wheel supports
Some “office” details
The crewchief and the pilot …
… and the Parajumpers that go with the dio.
Looks great so far, Avus. Gotta love the PJs!
I’ve got an F-102A I’d love to see in this one. Have not decided on what markings to throw on her, looks like there’s a few more choices now than there used to be.

Welcome to the group build and to the fSM forums! Is your screen name a reference to your misspent youuth?
Ha! If only! My mispent youth was spent in green as a reserve Army Reserve med-tech, 1989-99! My screenname is only a general synopsis of my interest in modeling…

Well, thanks very much for serving. You and I joined in the same year, BTW.
