Tamiya make a 1.35th Harley with with a MP
any bigger look at the links above
Italeri also did a 1/35 Harley … many years ago. Haven’t seen that kit in some time.
I also have two 1/72 scale Harleys that came in a couple of my jeep kits. They are so small, I can’t even get pics of them! I’ll keep trying and maybe someday, I’ll get some worth posting.
It was Harley’s production to govt standards and ability to maintain higher production numbers that put them over the top in the batle with Indian. After the war, Indian produced bikes for a few more years in Springfield MA (just up the street from work) then folded in the early 50’s. The old Indian Motocycle (NOT motorcycle) plant is now apartments but the museum is still here.
The other guys are right about the 1/35 scale, tam and Italeri both have/had these.
Imai did a few in 1/12 scale, they are getting rare now as they company gone under and Aoshima who bought all their molds hasn’t released any Bike kits yet.
Harley davidson and a few indians thrown in for good measure I am sure the brits had theirs as well
My Italeri’s US WWII Motorcycle 1:9 (Esci’s the original mold producer) is now under construction. It’ll be shown in my next page (19 C) in about a month.
Indian couldn’t sustain production because most police departments used Indians, not HD. Indian did make several models for the Army though mostly 45 CID flatheads (side valve). As a matter of record Indian shut it’s doors in 1952 and the NYPD paid for them to reopen and build them new bikes in 1953! Indian was playing with things that were decades ahead of their time my father’s 1943 Indian Army had SHAFT DRIVE as did the Indian 442 which also had an inline 4 cylander engine mounted longitudanally. Indian’s spring girder front suspension was also superior to HD’s springer, a point my dad proved doing Turkey Scrambles (off road rallies) on a '47 Chief!
Indian Motorcycles are back in production (i think) heres the link http://www.indianmotorcycles.com/
heres a site with Miltary motorbikes on http://www.dropbears.com/bikelinks/military_motorcycles.htm
Correct CC, they are back in business and making some sweet looking bikes!
