Sweet. I remember as a kid going to the “big” hobby shop in Tampa and seeing a 1/32 A-4 in the glass case by the cash register. I finally got that old Hasegawa kit in my stash now. Can’t wait to see your build stik. This will be one of those nostalgic builds for me.
Thanks Eagle. It is a beauty! I built one while I was overseas in 2005 and loved that kit… too bad it had to stay behind. I bought one once I got home and have been looking foward to doing it up better.
I’m thinking about diving in with the Academy TBM-3 Avenger. Any thoughts? I’ve heard its a reboxing of the Accurate Miniatures/Italeri TBF, is there anything else I should know?
Clemens, my contribution will be Trumpeter’s 1/700 scale Wildcats, representing VF-3 (which replaced VF-2 for that particular cruise), aboard USS Lexington in February, 1942.
Put me down for a 1/48 Revell SBD Dauntless there Clemens. That’ll be my next project after my Fw 190 A8/R2 I’m building. My 9 year old son Joseph and I are doing this one together. so when you enter it tag it as Joe and Joseph(MVP). Thanks, Joe
After building so may of the AM Avengers I can offer 1 tip that will make the build go even smoother: If you build up and paint the turret, then insert it into the cockpit deck BEFORE closing the fuselage halves you will save a huge headache down the road of trying to fit that turret in after the halves have been joined. It is by no means impossible to do afterwards, you just need the right angle, but why fiddle with it?
that is what is so cool about Mark’s stuff, from 1/1200 to 1/48 is possible, depending on your subject, and he gives us the differences in cruises, he doesn’t make us use 1968 Enterprise on the 1969 cruise
