I have a set of Hasegaw weapon loading equipment it calls for OD.color. I don’t have a good eye for color but I remember it being more dark green in the 80’s / 90’s when I was in. Can someone tell me if I’m right or wrong.
I was Army, but on several AFBs in that era. I remember stuff being a very dark olive green and not any OD like Army equipment.
It depends on what it is. What I have seen being in CE, and borrowing the equipment is that some of it is a glossy darker OD green, and the flat OD green, especially jammers and coolanol carts for the B-1.
I have the same set and I started to assemble some of the parts and when I shot the color on, the O.D. didn’t look right even to my un-military trained eye. Further research tells me that originally the equipment was painted yellow but modern color is reported to be FS 34079 Dark Green. I am going to try that.
It has been 26 years since I retired from the US of AF and my memory is getting somewhat flaky, but IIRC, when they switched from yellow to green, it was a little bit darker than standard OD. Of course, like any paint, it tended to fade somewhat in the harsh sun, so standard OD would probably be accurate for equipment that has not been painted for awhile.

OD or OD Green is a color that has so many variations any will work. Each mfr produced units of differing colors/shades. It was also a color that was know to fade and oxidize, especially in tropical areas. The equipment was also subject to abuse. They were bumped, banged and rubbed in their daily use. Repairs were being made constantly and they befell the same rattle can corrosion maintenance as the aircraft they supported. Go wild with you weathering!
The big switch from yellow to OD Green came during Vietnam. Camo’d aircraft were easily spotted when surrounded by AGE painted a bright insignia yellow.
I’ve seen and worked around units even painted black and dark AF Blue. These were pieces used by special ops purposes. Even once saw a gloss white Light-All. Try to find that in a snowstorm!
Just as a side note. If you are building a current setting the Air Force has instituted a tone down program for SE. The standard color for all flight line SE is gray 26173. Sorry if that adds to your confusion
Definitely dark green as many others stated, although some vehicles appeared olive drab. Also, some were gloss, e.g., some bob tails and jammers. I know many years back; 70’s and earlier they were painted yellow. Nowadays the trend is toward painting all the stuff a medium shade of grey. Hope this helps.
Ok, now I am confused…did someone say red with yellow pin stripes? Or was that purple with orange spots? Seriously, I tried finding photos on the net and only came up with a few very bad photos from the Korean war and Vietnam era. Those were mostly yellow. They also showed much wear and tear.
