I am currently in the process of building the Dragon Wagon from Tamiya and everything is going well except for the trailer wheels. After attaching them they do not spin/move, I just wanted to know from people who built this are the trailer wheels suppose to move and if so why doesn’t mine move. Or is the front wheels and double wheels the only thing that moves?
Here is a description from Tamiya website:
Sturdy trailer equipped with wheel guards and moveable skids. ★Realistic hollow rubber tires. ★Includes abundant photo etched parts, chain, pipe and other metal parts for heightened realism. ★Moveable front wheels, coupler, rear skids and tandem axle unit move just like the real vehicle. ★Cabin interior and suspension have been accurately recreated. ★Comes with four figures of two types
It would be better, if you included some instruction drawings or better, photos of your build here…
Now I looked up the instructions on scalemates.com: 121118-94-instructions.pdf (scalemates.com) and the suspension of the trailer is fully articulating with rotating wheels, and there are 8 wheels, every one has two poly caps inside them. So they SHOULD rotate, when done, but to get this cool feature you need to dry fit everything first, to make sure there are no obstructions (all the parts sanded smooth, all the holes free of flash and the likes). Second, you have to take it easy with the glue, to make sure the poly caps are free to turn inside the wheels. And then it’s good to wait until everything is really dry before putting the wheels on the axles AGAIN (dry fitting was the first time, right?). So, did you tick off both of those points above? It might be, that you should now go the hard way, open up the wheels, take out the poly caps and start over. It sure is easier to do it right the first time around.
Good luck with your build, it’s really a very cool kit, and have a nice day
Why would you need/want the wheels to roll? I don’t see the need to have any model’s wheels roll. Why? Unless you plan on pushing it along the floor going “Vroom, Vroom!”
Thanks for your reply appreciate it but I have checked and I have all the poly caps and stuff attached to it properly and let everything settled since last night. The double wheels and the front wheels in the earlier parts of the manual all spin but judging from the manual it doesn’t look like it rotates unless I see otherwise regarding the trailer wheel, and from the Tamiya description it doesn’t say trailer moves, so I am not sure.
I have built it before, a couple of times. Once as the full M26 Dragon Wagon, and once as an M15A2 trailer for an M123AC Tractor in Vietnam. If assembled properly, the trailer wheels turn just like the truck wheels. Still don’t know why you want them to, but they do.
Want to pick your brain a bit than, the front tandem axle and front wheels all move fine, the trailer wheels moves when I drag it/push it along the ground a bit. A few of them move but not all of them at once, if I pick it up and spin it with my hands the rotate. Is yours similar as I spent a lot of time on this build and don’t want to end up having a defected product due to those wheels.
So it doesn’t seem to be a glue or my building skills, it looks like that the wheels move when I push it across the work table while applying a bit of pressure. The ones that don’t move seems to as you say rub against the frame which stops it from moving. Did you have the problem with your build? Like it moves when I pick it up and rotate the tires with my hands, it moves a bit when I push it across the table but runs against frame sometimes
Sorry for being annoying but just want to confirm that the trailer wheels when pushed across a table while applying pressure to it some of the wheels of yours move but other don’t move as it rubs against the frame of the trailer
