I am currently building Sky one from UFO, its the terrible IMAI kit, ive made a cockpit and got a pilot since it doenst have one, and moved the tail to the rear where it should be, but im having troubles finding exactely what colour it is, every picture ive got shows its green, yet it says its not, but doesnt clearly define its exact colour.
The prop from the television program was painted with British automotive paint - Ford Oyster Gold. What that particular shade is called outside of the UK is anyone’s guess, but my suspicion is that if you want to use standard hobby paints, you’re going to have to mix up something that looks similar enough to please your eye.
Doing an image search, I’d go with a medium to dark metallic gray with a bit of green added. It certainly looks more solid Green in some images, and metallic in others.
A few links to a close-up of the filming prop are below. The last image definitely shows it to be a weird, metallic gold. Nothing like you would expect from a “gold” paint. Lots of other tones going on to break it up and she’s got plenty of weathering.
You may have to copy and paste because this new format isn’t letting me hot link the address with any degree of ease.

Now i know the colour, ive checked automotive shops to see if i could get it but none have any idea, i found a store that sells house paint, they looked it up, found out that that they deal with the company that produces the paint, called them and they wont give out the colour as its a proprietry colour that belongs to Ford and they are bound not to give out the mix, so it take a photocopy into the store and get them to mix up a batch as close as possible.
