Just finished building Revells 1/125 scale U-99, my question is how should I go about rigging it? I’ve got nylon thread and some craft beads. Is there better materials to use? Do I secure the beads with super glue?white glue? Any tips or techniques on how to run and attach the thread would also be greatly appreciated.
Hello: At the moment I am building the u-boat VII D 1:144 scale from Revell. My kit box shows a somewhat more sophisticated rigging than the one given in the instruction especially the kit box shows a rigging with “blocks”.
I do not know anything about your particular kit but isn’t there any indication in your manual to drill out tiny holes where you run your rigging through?
I tiny drop of super glue will secure your threads at least if you tied it.
Thanks for answering so quickly, and the sites. Nope, my instructions say nothing about drilling any holes. There are however two tiny plastic pegs that I think you are supposed to tie the line to. I’ll take your advice and give it a dot of superglue after I tie it on.
Yesterday it came to my mind that threads were made of steel-lacings (I do not think they used hemp-ropes on u-boats). I for one will paint the rigging lines gray or silver colored.
