I rec’d the Revell 1/72 scale Uboat from Great Models, complete with “new” packing to protect the bow, but the port side hull half has (had) a 2" crack from the top to mid section. I glued and sanded it, and I think it will not be a big deal.
The ends of the hulls are protected well, but any pressure on the box ends will crack the hull. You would think Revell would get the idea…

I had the same thing happen to one I got from Modeler’s Vault. Only in this case, a section of the starboard hull near the bow had completely broken off. I was like you, I’ll just repair it, but it’s still annoying. I think Revell needs to add more protection in the packing near the bow and stern.
