U-505, Bronco 1/350 Type IX C U-Boat

Well, I guess I never posted a finished thread for this build. It is Bronco’s 1/350 Type IX C U-Boat kit built straight OOB in a 48 hour timespan for a Weekend Madness GB. Although I did go back later and add some more weathering, and some rigging. I did modify it from the kit as I wanted to depict U-505 on her final war patrol in late Spring 1944 before her capture. By that time her deck mounted 105mm gun had been removed, so I left that part off and filled the mounting hole. I also replaced the kit’s solid radar screen with one made from fine mesh.

As completed within 48 hours…

weathering added with drybrushing for marine growth on the hull and Tamiya Weathering compact rust & soot

and finally with rigging added…

Thanks for looking

Very nice work for a weekend project, I sure wouldn’t be able to do half of the job in that time span. She really looks like she been at sea quite awhile.

Thank you Marcus. it was nice to finish a kit in short order. My last few subs took many times longer and turned out the same… but then again I learned as I did them, and applied that knowledge here…

Really nice. I gotta get to building!

Thank you… I need to get back to building… that’s a very good idea Hokey!

Looks good as usual stik!

Dave

Thank you Dave. I gotta admit that I really like these 1/350 sub kits. They are lots of fun to do… except for that dang rigging and PE stuff…

Looks great stik. I hope to build as good as you some day.

well 45 years of doing something has to pay off somehow… LOL!

Another terrific submarine!

Bill

Thank you Bill

Great job stik, and in 48 hrs.! [Y] The paint and weathering look spot on.

That looks really tiny. If I may throw this out, I would add a very dark almost black wash to each recessed flood hole to add depth to them…

Hey stik. Can’t see the pics? Que Pasa?

I don’t know… They show up fine for me and nobody else has reported that problem yet…

One time all but one picture were gone, then they were up again. Weird.

Maybe my PB account is nearing its bandwidth limits? I really despise them, but have no better alternatives for image hosting…

I switched to Imageshack. Glad I did.

I am not impressed by their site either…

Has anyone use the photo storage system offered by Amazon Prime?
