Typhoon 1/48 finished pics

hi

just finished a Hasegawa Typhoon in 1/48

this one has to look very used during the Normandy battles,

maybe some might find the weathering overdone

hope you like it

From what I can see it looks excellent. I’m impressed with the paint chipping work. Paint chipping can be hard to do and still make it realistic looking. I noticed many modelers advoid it. It’s pretty hard to over weather WWII stuff in general. Considering the places and ways they were used not to mention paint quality was poor to say the least. I think the overall look is great.

One note either the lighting you are using or that backround is throwing the contrast off on your camera. It’s not the camera bacause in the cloes up of the wing all the colors and what not are right. If you are using a 5500K range bulb like a aquarium or somethimes called a kitchen bulb this can throw off a very cool blue light and wash out the colors somewhat. Try using a full specrum sun or daylight bulb along with a color inhancing bulb. It will give you good light but not so much as to bleach it out and the color bulb will bring out the details. You have no shadows so you already know about that.

Looks fine to me. During the heat of combat, crews were/are not able to wash and wax the planes between sorties.

There are liable to be rivet counters but, you built it. If you are happy with it, that’s all that matters.

Looks good from here. Nice work on the invasion stripes.

That is a beautifiul Typhoon you’ve built there. Personally, I think a little weathering gives an airplane some character, and you’re weathering is top notch.

If you don’t mind, which paints did you use for the exterior and flat cote? Gunze?

have made some new paics

not so bleu this time

The black of the invasion stripes was done with Tamiya Nato Black (not real black)

Fantastic looking build! The weathering and paint chipping are excellent.

Nice Typhoon Jan. Finish looks 1st rate.

Excellent work and nice weathering too Jan. Coincidentally I’m finishing my Hasgawa Typhoon off too [and a Tamiya Brewster Buffalo] but I might put ZY-Y markings on the Typhoon instead.

Jan,

Absolutely stunning! Weathering looks great, nice and dirty. You should be very proud of that one. [tup]

Nice job on one of my favorite aircraft of all time. I have one in the stash waiting patiently with A/M decal and photo etch. I think the weathing job is top notch in my opinion. I love aircraft with the well used look.

Not too much weathering at all. I have always been a beliver in lots of weathering. Just finished a Japanese floatplane and as most of us know, that one needs a lot of knocked off paint. Your Typhoon looks very nice. Very good job.

Nice Typhoon, Jan. The weathering looks great to me!

First saw the title,thought is a Euro2000 typhoon. LOL…

Nevertheless,a great piece of typhoon. Good weathering and chipping!

I love it, Weathering is spot on. Not tried invasion stripes but i bet they were a bitch. Top job Jan.

That looks Great.[tup] The weathering is not over done at all. I am surprised no one asked this but do you care to share your technique for paint chipping?

She’s a beaut…

I wouldn’t worry about the weathering being heavy. Warhorses from that time were quite often run hard and put away wet…

Fade to Black…

Nice work on the Typhoon. As has been stated many times in this forum, weathering is a matter of personal preferences. If you like it, then it is great. Yours looks fine to me.
