Type 94 Te-Ke "itty-bitty tank"

Cochie-cochie coo! Look how cute! A baby tank!

Ok, sorry about that - but this thing is dinky.

FineMolds kit - very nice, petit (pardon the pun) detail, P/E included.

And check this out - piggy-back!! LOL!!!

Thanks for lookin’

Mark

Neat! Japanese camo came out nice, too.

Owwwww, how cute! It looks like a tank, only smaller![(-D] Seriously though, you have a very nice looking finished product! What colors did you use for the camo? It looks like it has a full interior…? I almost picked one up last weekend, after seeing yours, I just may do so now.

Nice little tankette. We didn’t have much to fear in the Pacific as far as armor was concerned.

BTW, I noticed that the Sherman has those wood planks on the side. What good would they do against enemy AT rounds? The Japanese didn’t use hollow-charged weapons. Just curious.

They were added to make it more difficult for Japanese infantry to attack using hand-held magnetic mines.

Thank you Chris, I wasn’t aware they used them.

The planks started appearing on Marine Corps M4s in late 44. During the Iwo Jima and Okinawa campaigns, nearly all Marine M4s had some for of supplemental armor such as planks or track shoes attached to the hulls and turrets.

Whos my little man, whos my little man. Hehe, baby tank riding on mommy’s shoulders. I like the camo job you did, I tried it once, it failed (teh yellow was a pain)

As far as the wood goes on the shermans, I dont see why you wouldnt just put it on there just in case, I mean, if you have it, why not?

You should “build the photo”–get yourself a Sherman A4 with the lengthened hull, and put it up on there!

The only thing I would critique about your numerous builds that you’ve posted is that you go a bit heavy on the drybrushing. The flash photography really brings that out. I would suggest to either try a little lighter application, or try applying a raw umber wash after drybrushing to tone down the contrast.

Other than that though, you have a nice collectioin of armor to be proud of!

The Sherman in the pic is a M4A2, not an A4.

Just found this… A Marine Sherman upgrade set by Verlinden in 1/48 scale… it includes planks! Tought it might be of interest…

Thanks, toadman!

That’s what I meant to say–shows how badly I don’t know my Sherman variants! [:I]

the planks were usually filled with conrcete as i was told, it could act like some kind of old fashioned ERA rofl

Now that would be more effective.
