Anybody built the 1/72 Twin Otter from Model Craft??? I’m not sure if the $19.99 price tag is worth it, but I’m unaware of anybody else that put out a Twin Otter.
Matchbox had one, no? I’m pretty sure they did, and that it looked OK, and probably cost much less… But it must be a e-Bay item nowadays!
Hi Domi. matchbox did do a twin otter and it is a pretty good kit too, it has markings for a Canadian airforce and British civilian aircraft (both all yellow) i have one of these someplace, i’ll see if i can find it then if your interested we could do a trade for ???. hope this helps. Greg
Greg, if Salbando does not want it, I’d be willing to trade for it…
Hi Domi, ok then i’ll have a look for it tonight. are you into civil stuff? i got a few kits up in the loft that i would trade (some that are quite old). Greg
Sounds good! Tell me what you have and what you are sort of looking for…
will do. i’ll go up to the loft and have a look right now. could take some time the as there’s kits all over the place up there. Greg
OK. Send me an e-mail and I can send you a list of what I got down here…
E-mail on its way. Greg
I’ve seen Modelcraft’s Twin Otter and it is a re issue of Matchbox’s kit.
I built the Matchbox kit and it was good. The only recomendation I cam make for adjustments to it is to find som metal rod to strengthen the landing gear a bit if you want the land plane version of it.
That’s really good to know… Modelcrafts’s Twin Otter retails at nearly £20 here! Very expendive stuff!
Gregers,
Hey can you send me the list as well. I’d appreciate it.
I was able to open up one of the Model Craft Twin Otters at the local hobbyshop, and it actually looked like a pretty good kit. They just restocked and have about 10 of them on the shelf. The decals are for two civil models, one of which is an Alaska Air plane. I saw the same kit (supposedly) on Great Models but it listed several gear configuration options in the kit (floats, skis, wheels). Is this the same for the matchbox kit??? I intend to do an Alaska Army National Guard UV-18 on wheel-skis.
For what it’s worth, they’ve got a bunch of C-172’s on floats by Model Craft that I’m considering picking up one. Whattaya think???
hi Salbando. will do. e-mail on its way soon.BTW the matchbox kit does give the wheel/ski option as well as just wheels and floats. Greg
btw i have a C 172 floatplane kit built upstairs and its a neat little kit but a little basic (if its the same as the one you mentioned, i can’t remember whose kit it was tho). Greg
hi Domi and Salbando. i think the fairest way to do this is to have it in a first come first served basis. (so ho ever says yep i’ll have **** first gets it/them) please reply here so the other one can see.
to the FSM staff, i know there isn’t supposed to be any trading on this site but this just sorta happened. sorry. i’ll try not to let it happen again. Greg
