Does anybody know what colors the T-6 Texan trainers at Tuskegee wear?? Also, from what I understand the Army Air Corps had letter number designations for each AAC training center (ie. TA-105–“TA” standing for the Training Center ???, and “105” for the aircraft #) usually painted on the aircraft; does anyone know the designation for Tuskegee??
Only place that I know of that might have that info is Ebony wings.com. They show all a/c markings for each squadron of the 332nd but not the T-6. I’m also looking for markings for the 477th Composite Group. Once the war in Europe was over the 477th was formed with B-25’s and P-51’s for Pacific service. War ended and they never saw combat.
Nathanael,
There is one remaining T-6 from Tuskegee and it’s owned (or was owned) by a guy that lives here in Denver by the name of Steve Cowell. He found a T-6 and after researching it found that he had a treasure. He put a ton of money getting it into flying shape and back to it’s original paint scheme because he felt he had an obligation to history. He was flying it at air shows this year, but I don’t know what the current situation is. Anyway, check out these links. Best of luck with your project.
