TSR-2 in Operational service

Hi, I thought I’d share a photo of my Airfix TSR-2 that I’ve modeled in operational service. had the TSR-2 gone into service it would have taken the name Eagle, and would hace been used by various Squadrons in Recon and nuclear/conventional bombing roles.

My model represents the BAC Eagle GR1 (1st operational variant) as it may have appeared in the late '70s with 617 Squadron, the Famous “Dambusters”. To bring the Airfix kit upto operational state I have utilised resin ventral and wing tanks, resin Bluewater missiles and inflight refueling probe by SAM sublications, and decals from the Xtradecal sheet, and various spares from Airfix Tornado sheets. The large “G” leeters on the side were from a Lancaster decal sheet. Although this is a “What if” build, I have tried to give it a little reality by using decals for a Squadron that would have had the TSR-2, using a weapons fit based on BAC/Government memo’s and plans of the day, and a camoflage scheme that was partially designed at the time of its cancelation.

Thanks for looking,

Mark

Nice looking build.

Any chance of some more photos?

Karl

Its on Display at the IPMS Scale Modelworld show this weekend, so I’ll take some more photos when I get it back,

Superb job, the TSR-2 looks good in all the paint schemes people have done them in so far.

Its a shame they were cancelled, when I see the one at Duxford I always think it would be great to see them fly.

Hopefully Hornby/Airfix will do a rerun of the kit.

That’s a great looking plane- I really like the ones I’ve seen that are in operational markings. You’ve produced the nicest one I’ve seen- great work!

I normally am not drawn to building jets, but that TSR 2 has really caught my interest.

Great looking build

Bud

Hi Mark,

good looking build you have there.

I’m looking forward to building the one in my stash at some point. I have one of the Xtradecal sheets as well, although I think I may build the Canadian ‘what if’.
