Hello everyone,
Started modelling when I was 9 years old my first kit was a 1:72 scale panzer, from then on I was heavily into military figures and armor. stopped when I got to college, started again just before graduating with a 1:32 Tamiya kit of an f-14 (still unbuilt) when I started working I started to build two rallye cars (still unbuilt) now that I am married (am now 37 years old)[;)] I picked up an issue of FSM at the grocery… that did it for me especially the articles about what you love about modeling… opening a new box and looking at the parts is the best… cant wait to get in the saddle again I just need to get some time where the little ones wont play with the Kit
Welcome Miguel!
Sounds like you we’re in similiar situations - having little ones and trying to find time to model. My little ones always want to paint stuff. I try to keep some cheap figures and stuff around so that if they are really persistant, then I can have them paint those. It’s great to see their enthusiasm and I enjoy their company, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little bit of time to myself. [:)]
Bayonet Recon,
Thanks! that is good advice but I guess I have to wait until my toddler is a little older (he is only 2 years old) or until he learns how to hold a brush. Right now he is into Monster trucks, all his steel car toys are busted beyond repair. So you can imagine if he gets his hands on the fragile plastic Kits.
I have kept the boxes in hard to reach (and see) areas but I guess the colorfull boxes are designed to catch the eye of children from 2 to 72
Thanks again,
Miguel
I have a 3 year old son, he likes to watch me build models. But he usually wants to bring his cars to the table, which is fine but annoying sometimes. I don’t have a problem with him playing with my models because I just made it clear that he is not to touch them. Luckily he doesn’t. Granted there is a big difference between 3 and 2 but I am sure you will be able to teach 'em not to touch 'em till they get a little older. I started building models because of playing with my dads unbuilt kits while he was building.
