Take 2 since my other thread got locked i will finish up the build in here
Well here she is in all here glory still qute a bit to do still but i atleast got her shaded on this one i used blk, brn, and yellow chaulk and brushed it on the fivet lines seaning that they are way to shallow to alow a wash panel lines are almost no exsitent on this thing i did what i could to enahnce it.
You must describe this “fivet lines seaning” technique…
LOL [;)]
That’s looking great guns! I’m gonna try and do the panel lines the same way on the Revell -262 I’m working on. You say you just brushed on some chalk? Neat idea!
OK Jon you asked Just to let you know rhis as messy as changing the dipper on a child wilst driving down a old dirt road< so wear gloves. Ok on to a more seriuse note i figured i would make thie easy so i took some picture. Ok first off you need the colors of chaulk thay you will be useing Blk, brn ,yellow and i you just happen to be doing a black plane your colors would be wht and grey.
Fig.1 crush said colors
Fig.2 Once completly turned into a powder find a contaner to put them in
Fig.3 find a brush your not useing or is beat up and trim some off the tip youll know how much to trim when you use it the first time.
Fig.4 here what the lines look like done with the brush
Ok this has to be done over a flat base coat or the chaulk dust will not stick on my 262 i shot the plane with future put on the decals micro-sol let dry sprayed it with flat and let dry and this is the end result.
Ok all here you go the final product this kit went togeather fairly well the only issue i have is with trumpy paint guide there isnt one and some of the color they call out are wrong, as for the decal instruction they suck there is only one profile for this bird that i built i thnk some A/M decals are needed if you plan on building a difrent bird. The one big issue was that i had to strip the engines down completly to get them to fit in the engine necelles other wise there was giant gap about the size of a #2 pencel lead. So all in all a good build i would highly recomend this kit.
One of the nicest large scale 262’s I have seen. I like the weathering and paint work. I followed the extra detail work you put into this project, it paid off. You mentioned the panel lines as being very light. On the actual 262 they filled in the panel seams and sanded them smooth. Trumpeter may have been trying to show this feature. Does it require nose weight?
Thank you all for your fine coments philo426 i thought about it but theres no access what so ever i have to build a base drill a hole in the front tire and nount it that way.
Smokin’, you did a great job. That kit took you, what, a week?? fantastic! I ahve too comments for you… For my tires i prefer a lighter shade of black, if there is suck a thing lol. I use Pollyscale “Grimey Black” and I think it looks great. Also, the panel lines are a little dark. Good technique, maybe just go a little lighter next time.
Now on to the compliments… the wiring is phenomenal! I salute you! Your eye for detail has really come along, and I’m very impressed!
Thanks RadMax8 the tire thing well they aremade of rubber so i dont think the paint will stick[:D] As for the panel lines i tryed to wipe off as much as posible but as you can tell it didnt all come off, It just gives it that well worn look[:P]
