I was at the hobby shop yesterday and they had the new Trumpeter kits in. You can get the missle on it’s own with the launcher or the missle on the transport truck. The truck has markings for Egypt in '73 or for North Vietnam. I got the truck kit and it has at least 20+ parts just for the engine! I tell you what guys, Trumpeter is giving Tamiya a run for their money lately on the detail. The kit comes with a p/e fret, rubber tires, springs, string, capper wire (that’s how they spelled it on the parts box inside [:p] ). I just gave it a quick look last night but the detail looks very good OOB. Detailed inside door panels, etc. The springs are very fine tightly wound wire for fuel hoses and will look good when painted.
I have to say I’m getting more and more impressed with Trumpeter. They’re making some really good and unusual offerings lately and I like that!!
Thanks for sharing, Eric. What about the price tag where you are? So far I’ve been really impressed with Trumpeter, albeit I’ve bought more than I’ve completed (but what’s new in that!?)…
I’d like to see their 1/72 AFV range grow as fast at their 1/35 range! And please, ô Plasticus, God of the modelers, give them what it takes to give me a 1/32 Dassault Rafale…
I think it was $65 USD on the price tag here DJ. I’d say it’s worth it looking at it in the box. I have no idea how the fit is on it but it sure looks good on the trees. I think oob it’ll be very impressive on the detail too.
Oh yeah, fellas! The Trump’s definitely rockin’ the house!
I’d have to say Trumpeter is the most exciting company out there today, followed by Dragon. And maybe Panda, but that outfit has yet to really impress me with the quality of its products. Lots of nutty ideas, though. If we ever see them!
I’m just talking about cool, interesting, surprising, and much-awaited releases, by the way.
Tamiya is still on top in my book.
Which certainly doesn’t stop me buying all the cool goodies from all the other companies!
By the way, DJ, I ran across Revell Germany’s 1/48 Rafale M the other day. Have you seen it? If so, what’s your opinion?
That is a very cool aircraft! I have the 1/72 Italeri kit, but it seems to be lacking something.
Well, their 1/24 copters are all over here, and so are a few other kits at various scales, including the X-35B and two boxes of the 1/144 B-1b (I bought one). Look all right to me.
The 1/48 Rafale M from Revell is a beauty! Best Rafale around for sure. But I’m not too keen on 1/48… I still have the old(ish) 1/48 Heller kit of the prototype (Rafale A) somewhere in the loft, half completed… But it’s not as well designed and detailled as the Revell kit.
Hmmmm…all I’ve seen here are the Panda helos and the X-35s (including a British one?).
Just seemed thick and clunky to me. Like any kit, I reckon you could turn 'em into decent models, though! Heck, at least Panda’s putting out interesting subjects!
Looks like we’re one post out of sync in the current posting frenzy, DJ! [:D]
I might just get that Rafale M. The Heller A is quite common here, but I’ve been digging the M hard ever since flying it in Ace Combat 04. Great game for PS2, that one!
Go for the Revell Rafale M. You won’t be disappointed! By the way, their 1/144 kit of the Rafale M is a little gem too. I’m just finishing it and I just love it!
