Greetings fellow modelers! Oh boy here we go again, this time bigger! After building this BB in 1/700 I had to give it another go. The kit has nice detail and the hull fit together great. No sanding sticks! Here it is paited up:
The stern deck is painted and washed with the details picked out:
I assembled the gun turrets and dry fit them on the hull:
Next I started on the upper works:
Here’s the ships boats painted amd washed:
That’s it for tonight. I got the weekend to work on her as hurricane Irene rages outside, as long as the power stays on! Thanks for lookin’ and to everyone in Irene’s path I hope you and yours are safe and dry.
I just told the owner of my LHS to reserve the 1/350 re-release of the WW2- MISSOURI (TAMIYA) and the ROMA as well as the HMS NELSON. I want to add these and it seems that TAMIYA realizes TRUMPETER will steal their thunder . Soooo. I look forward to a good shipbuilding year . tankerbuilder P.S. You,ve done some darn fine work so far . Don,t try to build in the dark, if it comes to that ,okay ?
Beautiful job on the ship’s boats Mark! Boy you must not drink coffee! That is some mighty fine detail painting. The Roma is looking very very good too! I like the weathering on the stern deck. She is going to be stunning I’m sure! And good luck riding out the storm. If you want to believe some weather people it’s the end of the world for the East Coast. I’m sure it’s going to be “interesting” but I hope not the destruction they seem to think might happen. Batten down the hatches and stock up on the grog!!! [:D]
Greetings fellow modelers! Update time. It’s been a while, too. Man , don’t you just hate when life gets in the way of your modeling? Anyhoo, here’s some pics of my continuing build. Here’s the hull painted, washed, and dry brushed. I finally cleaned up the bow stripes from the tape bleeds:
And the stern. The main gun turrets are base painted except for the dark gray and are sittin’ on the deck. Got the catapult mounted, too:
I’ve made progress on the upper works adding the kit supplied ladders and railings from my stash:
Here’s everything sitting on the deck (not glued yet) :
Well that’s it for now. Thanks for lookin’ and comments/critiques always welcomed. Happy modeling!
Mark, your wash seems to be a tad lighter and much more refined on this build. (Or it may just be that it is such a larger scale. too) Either way, the Roma is looking great. I love the detail that popped on the forward deck after the wash!!
