Trumpeter

Has anyone built the Trumpeter 1/35 EE T2 Osorio Brazilian MBT? It was available cheap so I picked one up. Never have bought a Trumpeter kit. Cheap enough to do some weathering experimentation on.

Hi Akronseabee,

The Osorio is one on my own to-do list, as is their Ariete. It’s a fairly recent offering and Trumpeter’s quality in recent years has been pretty good. Things to watch for – many tiny parts that are quite fragile, especially things like grab-handles, which tend to break as you trim them from the sprue (think early-vintage Dragon – frustration on a stick, but they look great in the end) and are difficult to clean up; relatively thick sprue-attachment points by the standards of Tamiya, Hasegawa, Revell Germany etc. If it’s anything like their Abrams with Mine Plough, it’ll be fully-featured, including even a choice of link-and-length or vinyl tracks, and possibly some interior detail, and generally specific, well-produced plans.

I’ll be interested to hear how the build-up goes! I have their Challenger II KFOR arriving in a few weeks, and can’t wait to add that one to my lineup of modern armor.

Best wishes,

Nice kit, but it has some fit problems in the turret halves, and also a lot of details missing. You must correct the gun mantlet a little. Here you have some finished kits: http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~TANK-GUY/Gallery04.html (in the lower part). Actually only one version can be build out of this kit without major modifications and not two as the instruction sheet says: It’s the 120 mm gun version, mostly OOB, if you want to build the 105 mm gun version, you must get a spare 7.62 mm FN MAG instead of the 50 cal. Browning M2 machine gun, with its own mount of course. I’m building the 120 mm gun version and have some pics of the two versions as well, and they’re slightly different. If you want them, let me know. my e-mail is jls_089@hotmail.com Most regards.
