Alright. I was on another forum, and read that this kit is junk, and should be tossed in the bin. I want to build mine as an Angolan T-54, that was abandoned by retreating FAPLA forces during the Bushwar of the 70’s and 80’s. Will this kit work, or do I give it to my son as another starter kit for his small stash to practice his skills on? He has a Birthday this month, and will be 14! Doing good in school too!
I built their T-54, which is probably a what their Ti-67 is a variant of. Pro’s- only T-54 oob in this scale in plastic; decently detailed hull and turret, especially the fittings. If your not a rivet counter, it will produce a kit that looks like a T-54, but not of the best quality.
cons-the hull looks too tall in profile; the plastic does not respond well to Testors glues ( I ended up using Tenax for the majority of the build); the tracks are terrible-need aftermarket replacements.
end result- you get what you pay for- these kits were very inexpensive compared to all other T-55’s out there. It might make a good basis for a battlefield wreck as you plan, but will need some TLC to bring up to standard. Or your son would be perfectly happy with it to build.
