Trumpeter Morser Karl

Or one of them big mortar things.

Did you guys notice that the Trumpeter Morser is listed in FSM for the 2004 projections? Some of you may recall that I posted a link to an image of their Karl kit a few months ago. Looks like it’s happening!

This is good news, as they put huge effort into making their K5 very detailed, and I would expect about the same for the Karl. Better still, the rail transport cars that brought the thing to the front will be available in styrene too! (As expected – they were shown in that image too.)

The whole thing is really impressive looking, and would make an awesome centerpiece for a collection. Diorama potential is very high too. I’d expect it to me fairly pricey though.

Man, I was hoping someone would put something up about this. I’ve been looking everywhere and couldn’t find anything. I’m really looking forward to this kit. I want to get it along with it’s railroad carrier.
Larry_Dunn, would it be possible to post this link again, if you still have it?
Thanks!

Live to serve ya!

Don’t ask me what the text says though!

Thanks for the link Larry. Man, I’m REALLY looking forward to this kit. Im kinda glad I held off on the Leopold. Gotta start picking up figs, this one Im going to make into a large dio

Check out PMMS the Australian modelling site. They have pics of new releases for each company and trumpeters has shot of Karl with rail wagons and figures.[:)]

All I see is the box art:

“Have you dismounted your mortar, or are you just happy to see me?” [(-D]

hehehehe, funny Larry

I’ve seen that pic a while ago, and that’s the ONLY pics I’ve seen. That’s why I was so stoked when you mentioned seeing the kit. I hope it comes boxed with some figures and a section of rail track

dang-sorry i jumped on the Dragon Karl.

Yeah I was about to as well, and then Trumpeter came out with the Leopold. I was about to get that, then I figured they were bound to come out with one of these, and wonderfully enough a few months after that I found out about a future release of this kit. I can’t wait

No need to be sorry about that, Dan – looks like a fine kit.

Yeah, it probably is but I like the railway carrier that Trumpeter has. Although the kit’s big enough as it is and Dragon adds that aluminum shell. Oh well the styrene always looks better on the other kit.

hehehe, a truer statement I’ve never heard: “Oh well the styrene always looks better on the other kit.”

Hi guys,
I just picked up the Dragon model kit of the Morser “karl”. Anyone have any links or anything to pictures of it for detail and stuff? Has anyone ever done the model before or have pictures of it. and any tips on building it?

Thanks
Joe

Joe, run a search for it here in the armor forum because there have been a number of build-ups of that kit posted here. I’ll bet you’ll get lots of useful info and advice from those threads. FSM had a review too, I think, including IIRC buildup tips.

Have fun with your monster!

try this:

It says in the review that Trumpeter omitted the horn!!! The mind boggles.Anyone who missed that monster coming up behind them deserved to be squashed like a bug.

lolok, is that the review on the link from above? I don’t know as I can’t load the language packs, thus can’t translate :frowning:
It really looks like a beast though. Kind of worried about the fit of the tracks. The pics from the link don’t look all that great. You can tell there is alittle bit of a discrepancy. Still, I CAN"T WAIT FOR IT!!!

Hey Zoki! the link is to the Dragon review.

You are confusing the review of the Dragon kit, which has been released, for the Trumpeter kit, which has not yet been released.

If the duelling K5’s are any indication, the Trumpeter Karl will probably be a more complex build and will have better fine-detailing.

Larry_Dunn, I think you’re right. From my experience anyways, the larger kits that have come from Trumpeter, such as the Leopold (which I don’t have), the FAUN tank transporter and SE guideline missle transporter (which I do have) are quite heavy on the piece count. The FAUN is over a thousand pieces. Long build time, but the detailing is really nice. So I hope that trend continues with this kit!
