Just picked up the Trumpeter German 12.8cm Selbstfahrlafette L/61
“Sturer Emil”, and I must say it looks like a great kit, and it’s superb for the money.
Obviously because these vehicle are so rare, there’s little reference around, but does anyone know how accurate this kit is?
To me it looks a lot like the vehicle in Kublinka from the outside, but I’ve never seen any interior shots.
So far about my only minor grip in the 1970s Italeri style outlines for the interior stowage, but otherwise it looks like a beauty.
And unlike many “odballs”, this one actually saw service!
J-Hulk picked one up not too long ago, and he had very good things to say about it as well. This kit seems to be an obscurity, but one well worth picking up, considering the price, and what you get for it.
Yup, it’s a great kit!
And for $16 USD, you simply can’t beat it.
Heatseeker, those “Italeri style outlines” for the equipment are no problem at all, in that you cannot see them once the equipment is installed over them.
The kit tracks are great, too! Hollow track guides! ModelKasten is putting out a set of indy links in July, too. That’ll make getting the sag right a little easier.
There is some reference material available for the vehicle – they are covered in the book on the Ferdinand and Elefant by Wydawnictwo Militaria. It’s Wydawnictwo #187.
I’ve got it, and it’s a good book, with tons of 1/35th scale line drawings (including for Sturer Emil), and complete English text to go alongside the original Polish.
The ads for the book never seem to mention its coverage of the Sturer Emil, but believe me it’s in there!
Hi! I’ve been waiting for this to show up at my local hobbyshop - they told me that it wouldn’t be available until July. Hopefully I’m not breaking any rules here but can anyone tell me where I could order one from? I haven’t seen it on any of the websites I check yet nor have I seen it on Ebay.
