Trumpeter F6F Hellcat

Hi all,

Has anyone built or seen a review of the new 1/32 Trumpeter Hellcat?

If so, please post your findings. This kit is on my Xmas list . Thanks,

I built this one earlier this year. A great kit with great detail and fit. The only issues were the overdone rivet detail and the clumsy, loose folding wing option. I highly recommend it but be sure to take your time. The landing gear assembly is a little tricky.

I’ve read somewhere that the 1/32 Wildcat was the best one in all scales. As for the Hellcat, I saw it and it has an odd “bulk” on the fuselage sides which seems very difficult to fix ( Hellcat sides are very flat, if I am right ) Another point on the cowling which is rather odd compared to the old Hasegawa. It’s a strange feeling: now that a lot of facts, if not almost all facts are known ( think of Eastern Block planes during 70-80s ) you have Eduard who enhance their models continuously and Trumpeter who makes one good, one bad, one so-so. It is as if they lived on two different worlds.

Another great one! Your weathering is awsome! I have a Trump I want to build up for Lt. Deblonc. His first mission he became an ACE w/5 kills, but had to bail out and he`s from my home state of Louisians. Overall great build though!!

Thanksguys,

Wulf, although you did an outstanding job on the pictured plane, it is a “Wildcat” and not a “Hellcat”. They are different aircraft. Thanks,

Yeah, I just realized that…Wildcat, Hellcat…they’re all cats! [D)]

Does anybody know when the trumpeter F6F-3 Hellcat will be coming out

It’s already out

I think I’ll pass on this one. Waiting for the new Eduard 1/48 Hellcat with high expectations though.

What is it with Trumpeter? Its like they have a big executive meeting before designing a new kit to decide what one major shape problem the kit will have just to tick off the internet guys! They obviously have the machinery and craftsmen to make highly detailed, modern kits. Most of their subjects are very popular aircraft with plenty of surviving examples to research from. Not trying to start a Trumpeter flame fest, in fact I like their kits and have several in my stash, but it seems like they could do much better with just a tiny bit more effort.

I think that in the past they have gotten away with inaccuracy and it didn’t matter (while producing for the Chinese toy market). I also feel that the Chinese export manufactures don’t care with what/how their producing just as long as it sells (look at the recent problems with their other exports and recalls). Anyways just my opinion, I feel that there kits are over priced, but I’m still buying them.

Where can i get one Great Models is just taking pre-orders and Squadron does’nt have it in stock.
