I saw this link on another site. It shows some pictures of the upcoming Trumpeter KV-1. It looks good but does it look like the track has sag molded in? The track doesn’t look like vinyl but link and length track. The link is a little to slow to load as it comes from a chinese modelling forum. Enjoy.
The mouldings look very nice and clean. I still have my Tamiya one to finish up, but I do like to see the direction Trumpeter is taking with this kit. And considering the probably fairly low price, it should make many of us pretty happy [:)]
I cant wait from them KV`s.
Trumpeter has a couple planned for release sometime this year.
There is a list of them on www.perthmilitarymodelling.com

I believe that Tamiya makes the KV-1B, KV-1C and the KV-2 along side with Eastern Express KV-8S w/ flamethower.
All are great kits but it would not hurt to have another specially from Trumpeter.
Be looking forward to the previews as well as the release dates.

To my good neighbor form the Great White North, I see we come from the same named cities. Cool-eh?
As for the Tamiya kits, they are quite dated with ugly vinyls tracks, motorization holes and other inaccuracies. Trumpeter will be offering a newly tooled kit with vast improvements, including this sagging link and length track. Will be keeping my eye out fot it. I hope it goes together better than the last Trump kit I got.
If there are track issues, WWII Productions make very nice KV tracks. They are not specifically made for the Trumpeter model, of course, but it would be interesting to see if they fit, as they are my favorite AM tracks, hands down. I just got their Tiger II snap links, and they are lovely.
I have not had the pleasure of building the Tamiya KV`s yet but I will keep my eye open for the problems mentioned. Vinyl tracks usually get replaced but I hate inaccuracy, specially the older Tamiya kits with the oversize, inaccurate hulls.

You aren’t alone. I estimate about 2/3 of my kits (built, unbuilt, aftermarket and figures) are devoted to russian armor. There is something about the appearance of russian armor that appeals to me.
+1 to that. Everything Russian is just so typically Russian. Big, aggressive, and definitely not pleasing of line. Half of all my unbuilt kits are Russian vehicles, and I still have quite a few more to get.
Agreed.
Russian`s made their tanks cheap and fast. Armor such as the JS (IS) were crude for European standards, but there is something about them that stands out. I dont know why, but the JS-2 (IS-2) is the dead on image of a “tank” to me. Love them Russian armor. Infact, thats all I really build.
Edit: This being said, I am a little disappointed to see so little russian war machines on the market. Its all German German German, Tiger Tiger Tiger. Although I still like the German machines, there seems to be a little imbalance. This post being a perfect example. Take the KV tank for example. Being widely used by the Russians during WWII, only very few kits exist of this machine, and some being innacurate such as the Tamiya KVs. Eastern Express makes a few KVs and I bless them for that. On the other hand, modeling manufacturers make what sells, and what sells is German armor. For all Russian fans, check out the Eastern Express catalog, they make a LOT of great stuff.
for lots of russian armor, check out alanger.us, they sell mostly pst, eastern express and so on. i’ve not had any problems with service and if you buy enough stuff they start giving you fairly drastic discounts.
It’s a shame that EE may be out of business. Apparently they are in bankruptcy and their molds(?) have been seized by their creditors. I read about this on Hyperscale in the Armor forums. Somebody was wanting the PT-76 and one of the BMD’s. I do hope they either return to business or someone else puts the kits back into production.
Alanger is still selling the EE kits. Not sure if they have a warehouse full of them, but from what Erik said, now might be a good time to buy a couple of things. Incidentally enough, www.alanger.us is actually having a 50% off sale right now.
