Looking Good!

And check all the different aircraft you get too.
And extra sets available.

And of course with all the PE that will be available this is
going to be a beauty to build.

I just seen on the White Ensign Models website last night that they are getting ready to sell P/E for this Nimitz class, the Liberty ship mentioned by Jeff Herne, and a USS Lexington (CV-2) class carrier. All in 1/350. A good time to be a ship modeler!!![:D][:D][:D][^][^]

sounds good - can’t wait!

I think all my other projects will take a back seat (or shelf) when this ship hits the world of us ship builders!

It’s almost here! What joyous news! Can’t hardly wait to get my hands on that bad boy… might have to wait until the Eisenhower version is released, though… any plans for modern aircraft?

Hey, that does look good! I may just have to take a shot at a carrier.
Forgive my ignorance, but were there ever any Vigilantes on the Nimitz? I didn’t realize the boat was that old!

RA-5 Vigilantes (recon aircraft) were around longer than the pure ‘A’ versions. I think thay actually showed one durring the Nimitz’s movie debut in ‘Final Countdown’.

Does anyone know if the hull is one piece or two like the Tamiya kit for the enterprise.
Also, is the flight deck one piece?

I haven’t seen anything either way on it but all of the new Trumpeteer 1/350 carriers released thus far are split at the water line with an optional lower hull or bottom plate. I would figure that they would continue with this.

What I find strange is there are no EA-6B aircraft with the kit or in any optional aircraft kit sets.

I know you can get a couple in each box of the Tamiya aircraft set but then, not having the clear canopies, they will stick out like a sore eye.

And as far as I can tell she had EA-6Bs on board during the time frame they are configuring the kit in.

Holy crap! A Nimitz in 1/350th!

Weird that they chose to release it circa 1975. Are they going to do another one from the current period, with F/A-18’s etc?

Larry mate - In reply to your question (haven’t worked out this quote thingo), but I would only assume that Trumpeter would release future Nimitz from different era’s/refits, similar to their past Essex Class Releases, and hence with them you can build any essex class carrier in early-, mid-, or late-war schemes. But one thing is for sure, it will take a long time to put this gal together, and when you finish, Trumpy will probably release the next in line of this class. Like you, I can’t wait!

Does anyone know how large the critter is? Can I get the box in the front door?
I have the Essex, and was hopeing that the Lex (CV-2) would be produced. How about the Iowa in 350 .

Catsidney

Lex is a future release. Iowa is in 1/350 by Tamiya. Yea it’s the Missouri in WW2 and New Jersey in modern. But the’re sister ships, so one will do all for that era. And I haven’t met a Tamiya kit yet I haven’t liked. [:D]

My BJM (that’s Blue Jackets Manual, for you landlubbers) list the Nimitz at 1,092 feet. That’s about 37.44 inches in 1/350 scale.
I may need that addition after all.[^]

I think getting the Nimitz is a moral imperative. LOL It would be a beautiful display next to the Enterprise. Now we need a conversion kit for the Ronald Reagan (CVN 76?)[:D] The big Question is what is the MSRP. Any guesses? Mine is in the mid to high 100’s Around 150-175.

I think I saw it listed at scalehobby.com in the low 100’s. Will double check in a few minutes.

I just checked it out. He has it listed for $108.00. It doesn’t say its a preorder, or will arrive at a later date. So maybe he has gotten some in stock. Great price.[:D]
