With my build of the Trumpeter 1/350 Bismarck wrapping up and almost done, this will serve as my next build. The 1/350 RN Zara heavy cruiser by Trumpeter. I have a few detail up kits for this kit to include the artwox wooden deck, and the Master Model turned brass barrels for the guns. I will be posting pictures of the kit and my progress on building her here soon. So, stay tuned!
Looking forward to it. Whenever I see someone is building an Italian WWII ship I always flash back on Boxman’s Littorio video where he flashes up a pack of Lifesavers to show the colors that will end up on the ship. Makes me smile every time.
Well stay tuned, because after the Zara I will be starting the 1/350 Italian battleship Roma!
The Bismarck is completed (will post finished pics in other thread soon), and I have officially begun on the Zara heavy cruiser kit.
I bought two different upgrade detail kits for this model, first is the Master turned brass barrels,
And the Artwox wooden decking that also comes with a metal chain.
Here are some random pics of the of the different sprues and the good amount of PE that comes with the model.
First step, which I am working on now, is cleaning up the hull and attaching the details to it before it is washed and primed for paint.
As most Trumpeter models of this scale (1/350), the hull has a fair amount of detail and looks really nice. Only mods I really need to do before primer is sand smooth the seam on the middle on the bottom of the hull. Aside from that, add the details that need to go on the hull and it will be ready for primer! I will attach pics once I get the hull primed!
separate bilge keels as i don’t see them on the hull?
That is correct. They are separate
Update pics on my Zara build!
Thanks for looking! Let me know what you guys think so far! She is getting close to being done!
That’s looking great. The red/white strips are striking. Nice!
Agree, it’s looking really sharp. The wood deck and railings look great. Quite impressive work getting such clean lines on the red and white stripes.
Thanks guys! Yeah I was thrilled with how the red/white stripe markings turned out. A lot of time masking and prepping to get it to turn out the way it is! I am happy with how she is building up.
