One good source of information is all the other threads here in this forum about the Arizona. Check them out! Just type Arizona in the Search field and enjoy! I came up with 44 pages of threads. 1100 posts.
well, if you want inspiration and want to see what was done with the Eduard PE on the 350 Arizona go to the gallery at Modelwarships.com and check out Peter VanBuren’s 1/350 Arizona. If you want some advice on the 700 scale kit: throw it away and get the Dragon (DML) kit with the included PE. I had the Trumpeter 700 scale kit and wound up doing just that. WS
but why would you want to take that pile of rubbish and try to make it into a Pennsylvania when there is a perfectly good, reasonably priced model of the refitted Pennsylvania available in 1/700 from DML/Dragon?
If you do get the Dragon kit, before you toss the Trumpeter 1/700 Arizona, rob it of all the foremast parts and modify them to match the 1944 Pennsy configuration, as Dragon got the foretop way too large out of scale. I have these kits myself and that is what I’m doing.[:)]
www.navsource.org is one of your best friends for American ship pictures.
As far as resources, I wouls suggest this thread and “Battleship Arizona” by Paul Stillwell. Feel free to drop me a line as well; I’ve extensively studied Arizona and to some extent Pennsy.
You might want to try Loose Cannon. I believe they make a subtender and several military supply and transport ships in 1/700 scale. Their kits are sold directly and through Pacific Front Hobbies and Freetime Hobbies on the net. WS
Just stay away from the MiniHobbies version of the 1/350th scale Arizona. The hull for that kit is designed for R/C control. The area where the shafts for the screws exit the hull is square. It’s designed to fit the motor. The Banner kit is the best in terms of production quality. I’ve had all three versizon.
