Trumpeter 1/35 CH-47 Chinook! (Now with 2 pix)

This month’s Model Graphix is a Trumpeter special, and one of the articles features some test shots of a 1/35 Ch-47 Chinook!
Is this a kit that has been announced previously? I can’t recall.
No info on a release date was mentioned.

Maybe Trumpeter decided to pick up the ball Panda dropped!

Here’s the pix I promised (see posts below):

We found the info already. Consensus is that yes, this is the Academy come Panda molds, reworked and improved by Trumpeter. Check this thread, near the bottom. http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33462

Projected release date of Sep '05. Would love to see the test shots, any chance you could scan them?

Ah well, I thought I had a happy scoop for ya’ll! Didn’t see that other tread (I checked, too!).
I’ll scan and get 'em up as soon as I can. Nothing spectacular; just a taped-together fuselage sitting on a desk, and another shot of Trumpeter Chief Engineer Wang holding it. Looks pretty big!

Can’t wait to see any pics, even if its just the box art and parts on the sprue!

I didn’t see it either, but only recenlty saw a pic up on the PMMS site.
Hey J-Hulk, do you have any other info from that Trumpeter special, notably their upcomming armor releases??

That’s gonna be one big Chopper.

Regards, Rick

I…uh…that is…uh…THUD!

What happen’d?..Did I faint?

HOLY COW!!!

It’s almost a reality! Did you see the size of that mutha? Scratch clearing off shelf space, I’m going to need a shelf just for this one! Awesome. Thanks J-Hulk.

What did we say a 1/35 Hook would be in fuselage length…18 inches?

Cuz that looks a bit longer than that?

I CAN’T WAIT!!! [:D][:D][:D][:D]

Brian,

Troy just turned me on to the previous thread about a release date… I come here to see it, and see yours first…with PICTURES no less!!! WOOOOOAHHHHHH!!!
HAPPY DAY!!! You & Troy sure as h*ll gave me a Happy Scoop, THANK YOU!!! [:D]

I’ve not been around much recently… my Mother is knocking on Heavens door and I’m spending as much time as possible with her these days.

I looked down just a while ago and noticed a BIG smile on my face… the first one in weeks, and you guys put it there… thank you!! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Howdy Frank! good to hear from ya!

Sorry to hear about your mom [:(]

By the look of those pics I would say that they are at first test run stages…gee! Sept would be a very conservitive date for sue!

PARTY!!![:P][D)][party][tup][wow]

i might just have to buy 5 of these kits so I never have to worry about having one around to tinker with!

Do chinooks carry miniguns?

I’ve played a computer game where they do… but games are rarely accurate.

MH-47, Spec Ops birds can. Also, in Vietnam, ther was the armed Guns-a-Go-Go Chinooks that were armed to the teeth.

I believe OldHooker, see posts above, was on the crew of this bird, Birth Control.

Right you are… but spent more time on “Easy Money” than the rest. During their testing phase, the Army tested a Minigun configuration, but opted for the 19 shot FFAR pod instead, for Stand-Off purposes.

There were five .50cal’s, each with back-up M-60’s. The .50 was preferred because it offered better penetration (Sir Charles couldn’t hide behind the tree’s) [;)], but had a tendacy to jam-up if it got too hot. In it’s latest configuration, the FE mounted twin 60’s through the cargo hatch of “Easy Money” pointing down and slightly aft… he would fire these as we passed over a target because that’s when She was most vulnerable.

Then I’ve done my job!
Always glad to be of service!

It seems these pix have made their way over to Armorama as well.
It appears that my “scoop” has been happier than I imagined!

i sure like to see this come out soon. but i also hope that they will allow you to postion the rotor blades folded back to save space.[:D][:D]

Thats no biggie…I saw a guy do that to the 1/48th Sea Knight
Should be much easier for a 1/35 Hook.

While I can see the obvious possibility of a Panda connection (with the previously announced 1/35 CH-47 Chinook), what’s the Academy connection? Had Academy announced a 1/35 Chinook as well?

Scanned and posted, sir.
And, uh…you’re welcome![;)]

Old Hooker has pics of the test molds that MRC did a few years back. They had the design almost to the steel mold at one time then dropped the ball.

He can tell you more than I.

How stupid was that?..but then again…More people are willing to buy larger kits today than lets say 5 to 10 years ago.

Soooooo…I wonder if most of the detail is actually MRC? in a way I hope so…for accuracy anyway.

Plus a few threads ago…our good friend from Cobra has more or less already stated some truth to the theory of the MRC, Panda, Trumpeter …journey of our 1/35 hook.

Hope that helps.
