Trumpeter 1/16 t-34: Good or Bad?

How good is the 1/16 t-34 interms of detail, accuracy, fit, decal, and quality? Is it worth the price? Is it the most detailed t-34 in any scale? Is it worth buying?

Everything I’ve read seems to be pretty positive. I saw one built up in the hobby shop- huge! Tons of details. Is it worth the price…I guess if it’s something you want and really don’t care, then yeah.

dude-- this kit, with a few fiddley problems,is in my opinion an armor builders dream-- oob it will build awsome-- and you can add detail to your hearts content. I have so many posts on this tank and build i don’t know what to say-- do a search in the forum under ‘treadwell’-- also, this kit can be had for less than 70 bucks on E-bay !(not incuding shipping to where you live)–that is pretty competitive with many of the finest 1/35 scale kits-- screw the decals-- you will want to hand paint this one-- the negatives-- and every kit has 'em,are ALOT of ejection marks that you may want to fix and i would strongly recommend an aluminum barrel-- i got mine from Jadar- with shipping from Poland add about 30 more bucks-- i swear this thing will keep you modeling for quite some time-- good luck to you,i hope you buy it!![:D]-- treadwell-- p.s.–this is in regards to the t-34/85-- it is a better kit than the t-34/76 which has some turret shape inaccuracies

Just the size of the box sold me when they first were introduced. [:D] Be prepared for the finished item to be fairly good sized, if you are used to building 1/35 you are in for a real treat. The larger scale allows for a lot more liberty depending on how far you want to go. I have one built as OOB since it was before any AM was available, the /76 1942 version, and it takes up quite a bit of shelf space all by itself.

The kit includes a lot of very nice detail for the turret interior, the hull, the engines, etc. and is a real beauty to build. I did one way back when they were first released as a GB here and loved every minute of it. No need to get AM unless you really want to in my opinion.

How would you guys like it if Trumpeter made other impressive models in the 16th scale? For a starter, maybe a T-55 or a Sherman with full interior detail just like the T-34. Maybe if we get a lot of people emailing Trumpeter regarding the creation of a new 1/16 tank, they’ll do it. I understand that Chinese company such as trumpeter would never let go of a business opportunity if they believe a lot of people will buy their new produce.

Shhhhh, don’t tempt me. Just the idea of a 1/16, full-interior T-55 has me drooling.

Well, my LHS told me that Trumpeter are going to make some more 1/16 tank, but dont know what.
We’ll just have to wait and see.

Could be a German tank, could be another Russian… mmmmhhh, I wish my wallet is fatter that this.

While the concept is cool, I wouldn’t go out and buy another one…not because I didn’t like it, quite the contrary! It would be because of the cost of the kit and the size it would take up when completed.

The 1/16 market is dominated by RC in many ways, that’s often the driver behind the larger kit development and marketing.

just curious – how much would you pay for that ‘PERFECT kit’ ( 1/35 or 1/16) (of your favorite tank or armor piece) that was totally accurate- had a perfect, complete interior and ALL ‘extra add on goodies’ were included-- no molding or fit problems, no ejection marks – just hours and hours of rewarding build time-- maybe 1000 to even 2000 pieces for 1/16 scale! --i would go as high as 500 bucks-- no b.s.—really-- treadwell–[:D]

Yeah, I really like the idea of a 1/16 t-55. Lets get people to email them about it and see what happens. Infact, I’ll email them right now. For those of you who don’t want another 1/16 tank due to cost and size issues, you can still help us with the emailing because don’t you want to see build ups of yet another cool tank? Don’t you want to see what other are going to do to it? If you do, then please email them at: info@trumpeter-china.com

Treadwell, for a 1/16 T-55, my favorite tank, I would pay probably around 500 dollars for one. May be even more.

You really should look at all of treadwells post on his T 34. It will show you everything you need to know. He is the 1/16 scratch built king in my opinion. Hours of fun just looking at his post.

Since we talking about scratch building, my LHS who just returned from Trumpeter said that in the R&D dept, they have a team of builders that build the mock up of the AFV from nothing.

Now that is what I called scratch building.
