Hi–just wondering if anybody’s tried the True Details sets for Monogram B-17–sets for cockpit, bombardier and waist gunner. Specifically, I’m working on the kit with left half of fuselage molded in clear plastic. Seems the after market kits would be a natural for this but was curious if anybody’s given this idea a go. I didn’t go back through this entire thread /forums/t/111149.aspx, but, I believe there is some True Details in there, along with a lot more amazing work.
Hey Lynn, I tried them on the same kit and did not use 85% of them, did not like the fit, some of the smaller stuff worked great but the side Replacements didn’t work at all. In the cockpit kit the deck parts are very think and way out of scale. Just my opinion but I would steer clear, go with the Eduard PE sets and a little scratch build.

Im assuming youre talking about the resin sets? I have that “Visible” B-17 kit and thought about getting the resin but opted for the Eduard PE sets…picked up all the interior PE sets available. The resin just seems like a giant PITA to me…too much surgery for me. The kit has a lot of nice detail oob and I think that the PE will compliment it. Now I`m trying to track down the exterior PE sets…I have big plans for this kit…lol.
